The history of the castle dates back to 1350 BC to the Hittite period. It was used for defense purposes during the Hittite, Roman, Byzantine and Seljuk periods. While the central settlement of the city was built around the castle, Karahisar Castle almost acted as a support for the city and continued its protection duty throughout history.
Historical places such as the Historical Ulu Mosque, famous as the Kırk Direkli Mosque, belonging to the Anatolian Seljuks period, Karahisar-ı Sahib Sultan Dîvanî Mevlevi Lodge, the Imaret Mosque Complex or the Gedik Ahmet Pasha Madrasa, colloquially known as the Stone Madrasa, will take you on a journey through history with its mystical atmosphere on the castle route. Passing through the streets that smell of history, they will bid you farewell towards Karahisar Castle.
